I would like to wish all my constituents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Now, as Christmas approaches, we have been enjoying Christmas events across Cannock Chase. These have included many Christmas lights switch-ons, church services and tree festivals. Although, it’s too early to tell whether we will have a white Christmas, we’ve had the first sprinklings of snow this month.
I opened the Christmas period by surprising many local businesses who were winners in my “Best of Cannock Chase” competition. This is the tenth year I have run this competition as I am keen that our local businesses get the support and recognition they deserve.
We have so many fantastic local independent businesses in our community and it was great to see so many people vote for their favourites.
I would like to congratulate all the category winners in this year’s competition. A particular congratulations go to Bag a Bargain on securing the overall ‘Best of Cannock Chase’ award, having received the most votes in any category.
The festive cheer continued with the announcement of the winner of my annual Christmas Card competition. Earlier in the year I invited primary school children to design my official Christmas Card. This year’s winner is Nelson Ajiboye, aged 10 of Churchfield C.E. Primary Academy.
Congratulations to Nelson and well done to the runners up - Charlotte Gray, aged 10 from Five Ways Primary School, and Penny Hanson, aged 6 of Pye Green Academy. The Christmas Card featuring Nelson’s design on the front, and Charlotte and Penny’s designs on the back will be sent to the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, amongst many others.
As we prepare our plans for Christmas and whether we are spending the festive period with friends or family, please spare a thought for those spending the festive season alone. So, if you know anyone who needs help or support this Christmas, please do get in touch with them. It is vitally important as a community that we gather together in support of those most in need.
All that remains is to wish you all the very best for 2024. As always, if you need my help with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] or call 01543 877142.
