There are so many brilliant businesses across Cannock and recently I met with local entrepreneur, Steve Mallows, who has set up Cannock Eats – a food delivery app which allows you to easily order your favourite takeaways from local restaurants.
The app means local independent businesses pay a lower fee to the delivery company, so they keep more money from their sales. It’s great to see businesses working together and by using the app, you’re helping local businesses and keeping money local!
I have also recently visited Cannock JobCentre Plus. It was fantastic to meet the team and hear about the support they provide.
We discussed the range of programmes and tailored support they’re providing to help local people into work, including connecting young people with local employers.
They host regular jobs fairs in the area and I would encourage anyone who is looking for a job to keep an eye out for upcoming events on their website.
I was delighted to meet the new Local Policing Commander for Cannock, Chief Inspector Laura Morrey. We discussed a number of priority issues in the area, including the recent reports of anti-social behaviour in Cannock town centre. We also spoke about the new policing model which will see more focus on local policing enabling officers to work more proactively in our communities.
I have also had meetings with the Council and other organisations about how we can improve our local area and secure more funding for Cannock Chase.
I am very grateful to all the local residents who took part in Cannock Chase District Council’s town perception survey which aimed to get a clearer view about how residents and visitors viewed Cannock town centre. The feedback will go on to inform the Council’s plans for the £20 million Levelling Up Fund which was secured by the Council last year.
