During the recent Cabinet reshuffle, I was privileged to be given a new position in Government as Minister for Asia at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, focusing on the Asia brief. I’m looking forward to banging the drum for the United Kingdom on the global stage.
While my new role in government will involve promoting Global Britain I will continue to work hard for the good people of Cannock Chase and make sure to put us on the map across the globe.
Since being appointed to my new role I opened the flower festival at St Michael’s Church in Brereton, popped to the Gala in Cannock Park where the Blackwatch Pipe Band put on a fine show and attended the Rugeley Rifle Club annual awards. It’s been a real joy to see our community coming back to life as coronavirus restrictions have eased.
I also had the privilege to open the new Digital Skills Centre at Cannock College. This state-of-the-art facility will allow people to gain digital related qualifications to enter specialised digital careers. This is a very welcome addition to our local college and it will help provide people across Cannock Chase with skills for jobs of the future.
The greatest honour of my life will always be becoming the Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase. I will continue to raise your concerns with the relevant authorities or Government ministers. Wherever I can, I will always seek to resolve the issues you bring to my attention.
