Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, has slammed Lloyds Banking Group’s decision to close the Hednesford branch, describing the situation as disastrous for the town.
The Cannock Chase MP has had increasing concerns following a number of high street bank closures across Cannock Chase. Unfortunately, Hednesford is now losing its one remaining high street bank branch.
Lloyds Banking Group recently announced that it is planning to shut forty nine branches in a nationwide shake-up. Hednesford will be one of these closures and will close its doors for the final time on 13th August 2018. However, the Cannock Chase MP is calling on the Lloyds Banking Group to urgently reverse the decision.
Amanda Milling MP said: “The decision to close the Hedensford branch is appalling. Every time I go into the branch it is always busy and is an essential service for many residents and businesses in the town. I have had many local people and traders contact me about the closure and I am writing to Lloyds to urge them to reverse their decision.“
The Cannock Chase MP added: “I am deeply concerned that the closure will mean Hednesford no longer has any bank at all. Many people rely on having a bank branch in the town so this is a devastating situation.”
