Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, has launched her 2017 “Best Retailers of Cannock Chase” competition to find the best independent shops, market stalls and café/restaurants in Cannock Chase.
Residents can vote for their favourite shop, market stall and café/restaurant until 30th November and the businesses with the most votes in each category will be crowned the winner. The competition, now in its fourth year, has a new category up for grabs: the best Cannock Chase retailer. The retailer from all the categories with the highest number of votes will be crowned the overall winner.
The winners will be announced on Small Business Saturday which takes place on 2nd December 2017. Small Business Saturday UK is a not-for-profit campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages the UK to support small businesses.
Amanda said: "Each year the competition goes from strength to strength and last year's competition was no different. We have so many wonderful and unique independent retailers, market stalls and cafes here in Cannock Chase and I would encourage people to support their favourite by voting in the competition. Due to popular demand I have added a new category this year, the overall winner, representing the retailer that receives the most votes overall. This means that one business has the chance to not only win their category, but also be crowned the most popular retailer in Cannock Chase.”
The winners in 2016 were:
Rugeley Café/restaurant – Made With Love Tea Rooms
Rugeley Shop – Lachmere
Rugeley Market – Meat to Please You
Cannock Café/restaurant – Caffe del Nino
Cannock Shop – Bathaholics
Cannock Market – The Rug Stall
Hednesford Café/restaurant – Bella’s Coffee House
Hednesford Shop – Jabu Hair Studio
Announcing the competition, the Cannock Chase MP highlighted the important role that independent retailers play in creating unique and thriving town centres, adding: “It’s our independent businesses that make our high streets so vibrant. The entrepreneurs and dreamers who start businesses drive our high streets forward. They deserve all the support they can get, so please vote for your favourite independent retailer today.”
The competition is supported by the Best of Cannock and Small Business Saturday. Anyone wanting to vote for their favourite shop, market stall or café/restaurant can do so at www.bestchasebusiness.co.uk. Businesses can also download voting forms and posters to display to their customers.
