Amanda Milling, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Cannock Chase, met with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, the Rt. Hon Sajid Javid, to discuss the regeneration of Cannock town centre.
Amanda Milling, who is seeking re-election as the Cannock Chase MP, took the Secretary of State on a tour of the town centre and looked at the most recent regeneration scheme that has taken place, Newhall Shopping Centre.
Amanda Milling said: “Cannock town centre needs some urgent investment to attract more business, as well as helping the existing businesses flourish. The Newhall Shopping Centre is a very welcome addition to the town centre, home to numerous new local shops, as well as flats above. We also have the new indoor fitness centre, Anytime Fitness too. However we need more investment to get the town centre on a stronger footing. I believe that the town centre has so much potential but is still a cause for concern to local residents. Driving the regeneration of the town centre will be one of my key priorities if I am re-elected on the 8th June.”
The pair were given a tour of Newhall Shopping Centre by Mr Fred Pritchard, the building’s developer and they discussed some of the opportunities for town centre regeneration, which will be crucial to ensure the town centre can thrive in the future.
The Rt Hon Sajid Javid said: “Supporting town centres and high streets is a big priority for the Conservatives. It was great to see first-hand the investment that Mr Pritchard has made to redevelop a building in Cannock town centre. I was also interested to hear about his other ideas for future projects which will feed into the regeneration of the town.”
