Hednesford Town Football Club and Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association are proud to be supporting I AM TEAM GB in conjunction with Cannock Chase MP, Amanda Milling.
Saturday 27th August 2016 will see Keys Park, the home of Hednesford Town Football Club, hosting an Old Fashioned Sports Day in conjunction with the national I AM TEAM GB event.
Four teams will be battling it out at half time with a box to box relay with space hoppers, bean bag toss and the three legged race. Prizes for the event will be awarded in the bar at the end of the game.
We are also proud to be supporting the Staffordshire Air Ambulance who will be raising money on the day and we will also have the current Miss Staffordshire supporting the event. Other events at the ground will be announced in the next few days
General Manager Carl Cooper said: “I am excited to be supporting the I AM TEAM GB and the chance to be part of the nation’s biggest sports day.”
“With us hosting Whitby Town at the ground it will be an exciting day with the Pitmen hoping to secure three points. With the local MP and local charities getting involved it puts Hednesford Town Football Club in the heart of the local community. Seeing the GB team secure so many medals has also given us a good reason to celebrate their achievements.”
Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase said: “I am Team GB is a golden opportunity for every sports club and activity group to welcome new members and supporters. Hednesford Football Club are throwing their backing behind the scheme and have organised some fun activities, it’s a great chance for local residents to get behind our great local football team.“
She added: “I would encourage other sports clubs to follow their lead and be part of the I am Team GB day.“

I Am Team GB is an initiative organised by ITV and The National Lottery, working with the British Olympic Association, UK Sport and supported by Join In, the London 2012 volunteer legacy charity.
British Olympians returning from Rio will be joined by famous faces from ITV, to celebrate Team GB's success.
The day will see thousands of sports clubs across the UK open their doors and in an unprecedented move, ITV, STV and UTV will switch off their channels for an hour to inspire the nation to take part in a wide range of sports, free of charge.
