Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase has announced that the Dilshad in Chadsmoor has been awarded the status of “Highly Commended” in the 2016 Tiffin Cup.
The Tiffin Cup is an annual competition which sees celebrities and industry experts choose the nation’s best south Asian restaurant. The annual event, now in its tenth year, is organised by a cross-party group of curry-loving Members of Parliament known as the Tiffin Club. The aim of the competition is to celebrate the quality and diversity of South Asian food in Britain and at the same time raise money for the charities Water Aid and World Vision.
The Dilshad was nominated as Cannock Chase’s entry by Amanda Milling MP, following a public vote. Each MP can nominate the best South Asian restaurant in their constituency. The best restaurant from each region went forward to a national final at Bellamy’s Restaurant next to the Palace of Westminster. The finalists took part in a special cook-in and the winner case chosen by a panel of judges.
Amanda Milling said; ”Although we didn’t make it to the final again I was delighted the Dilshad got the status of highly commended. Locally it secured double the number of public nominations over it nearest rival, showing how popular it is. Restaurants from all corners of the constituency took part and it was a well fought nomination.”
Tony Uddin of Dilshad said; “We are thrilled to be awarded “Highly commended” status and we would like to thank the public for voting for us as Cannock Chase’s entry for the Tiffin Cup 2016.”
