Year six pupils from Rugeley made dens and climbed trees as part of an outing organised by Cannock Chase MP Amanda Milling and bus company Arriva.
The pupils from Churchfield Church of England Primary School in Sandy Lane caught the 825 service from Rugeley to Milford Common to enjoy an autumn day out on October 12.
They went on a walk, climbed the Milford hills and made dens from branches and bracken, as well as climbing trees.
Headteacher, Jo Nickolls, said: “The children left school buzzing with excitement about their bus journey and outing to Milford. They returned happy and tired. A day later and they are still talking non-stop about their amazing day out. The children have asked me to thank Arriva and Amanda Milling on their behalf.”
Amanda Milling said: “When I visited Churchfield Primary School I heard that many of the pupils don’t get to enjoy many of the great facilities on our doorstep, such as Cannock Chase.I therefore asked Arriva whether they would put on a bus for the pupils and was really pleased that they agreed. I am delighted that the trip was such a success and that the children enjoyed their day out. I am also very pleased that Arriva are looking to organise similar trips for more local schools.”
Arriva Midlands Managing Director (West), Rob Cheveaux, said: “In one of our recent meetings with Amanda Milling she asked if we could help with a trip so the children could explore Cannock Chase. We were delighted the children had a great time.”
