As Christmas approaches, we have the pleasure of enjoying many of the wonderful events taking place across Cannock Chase.
From Christmas lights switch-ons to church services, from Christmas fairs to seeing Santa Claus, it truly is a wonderful time of the year.
One of my personal highlights is picking the winner of my annual Christmas Card competition. Earlier in the year I invited local junior and primary school children to design my official Christmas Card. This year’s winner is Isla Freeman, aged 8 of The John Bamford Primary School.
Congratulations to Isla and well done to the runners up - Vivien Liu, aged 8 from Bridgtown Primary School and Dylan Brockhurst, aged 11 from Churchfield C of E Primary School. The card designed by Isla has been sent to the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, amongst others.
I know that going into the Christmas period many families here in Cannock Chase are worried about rising prices and higher energy bills. That is why the Government is helping families with energy costs and remains committed to supporting those most in need. If you are struggling with your energy bills please get in touch. I can supply you with information on the various schemes that are available to help you with the cost of living.
As we look back on 2022, we will reflect on the high points of celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee and holding the Commonwealth Games mountain biking competition here in Cannock Chase. But we will look back with immense sadness at the passing of Her Majesty.
Personally, I had the huge privilege to represent Cannock Chase at many of the local and national events to celebrate the Jubilee back in June, but more recently to mourn the loss of Her Late Majesty.
Her late Majesty was a key part of Christmas Day for so many households over her 70-year reign and I look forward to His Majesty the King’s first Christmas message.
All that remains is for me to wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2023. As always, if you need my help with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] or call 01543 877142.
