This week, Amanda Milling MP for Cannock Chase was voted onto the Business Innovation and Skills Committee.
The elections didn’t end for MPs on the 7th May, as over the last few weeks they have been electing Chairmen and members of the various select committees that scrutinise the Government departments.
Amanda was elected to the committee which is responsible for scrutinising the administration, expenditure and policy of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and its associated public bodies.
After the result of the vote was announced, Amanda said, “I am really thrilled to have been elected. I was particularly keen to sit on this committee given my business background and the importance of the business sector to our local economy in Cannock Chase.
Much of the work I have been involved in so far as an MP has been to be a voice for business in Parliament. Sitting on the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee is an opportunity for me to have an even stronger role in Parliament, share my expertise and put it to good use helping to shape policy and decisions in this area.”
