Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, has announced the eight local businesses who have been crowned Cannock Chase’s best independent retailers for 2017.
In its fourth year, the Cannock Chase Best Local Shops & Market Stalls competition asked people to vote for their favourite independent retailers in Cannock, Rugeley and Hednesford.
There were 9 awards up for grabs – with best local shops, best market stalls and best cafés/restaurants. This year a new category was introduced – the overall winner award – for the retailer gaining the most votes overall.
Voting closed on November 30th and the winners were announced on 2nd December as part of Small Business Saturday.
The overall winner of the competition was Rugeley's ladies clothing and accessories retailer, Lachmere, which beat all other category winners by securing the most votes in total.
Rugeley market’s Meat To Please You managed to defend its title for the fourth consecutive year.
The full list of winners is:
Rugeley Café/restaurant – Made With Love Tea Rooms
Rugeley Shop – Lachmere
Rugeley Market – Meat to Please You
Cannock Café/restaurant – Caffe del Nino
Cannock Shop – Bathaholics
Cannock Market – The Rug Stall
Hednesford Café/restaurant – Bella’s Coffee House
Hednesford Shop – Jabu Hair Studio
Overall winner (most votes across any category) – Lachmere
Amanda said: “I would like to congratulate each of the winners in this year’s competition. I hope the winners enjoy their early Christmas present. Each of the winners asked me to thank their customers for voting for them. Commiserations to the businesses who didn’t win this year, but as always, the competition was well fought by local businesses and we have eight very worthy winners.”
