Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, has welcomed a new business to Hednesford’s Market Street.
Gilbert and Day Independent Funeral Directors is the newest business to open its premises on the busy Market Street in Hednesford, after three generations of the same family started their own business.
The business has been opened by mother and son team, Pauline Day and Craig Gilbert, and they are assisted by Pauline’s grandson, Joe. Having been a Funeral Director for many years, Craig wanted to open his own funeral directors and chose Hednesford as a location for the business.
Bringing years of experience in the industry to Hednesford, the family pride themselves on offering a personal service and have completely refurbished the Market Street property to cater for the needs of bereaved families.
The family is also joined by Alfie Gilbert who, at 13 years old, wants to be part of the family business. When Alfie was 10, he acted as a funeral director at his grandmother’s funeral. Since then, he has wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and take it up as a career.
Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, said: “I was delighted to visit the new business and see a new family business opening. I was especially pleased to meet Alfie, who at 13 years old is eager to join the family business.”
She added: “I wish them every success with their new business and welcome them to Hednesford.”
