Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, used today’s Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) as a final rallying cry for residents to vote in her 2017 “Best Retailers of Cannock Chase” competition.
The Cannock Chase MP used the opportunity to raise the profile of the competition which will see winners announced this Saturday (2nd December) as part of Small Business Saturday.
Standing in place of the Prime Minister at PMQs, the First Secretary of State, the Rt. Hon. Damian Green MP joined Amanda Milling in wishing all Cannock Chase retailers the best of luck with the competition and placed on record his congratulations to the winners which will be announced on Saturday.
Amanda Milling MP said: “I was thrilled to have the opportunity to raise the profile of the local competition and the national Small Business Saturday campaign in this week’s Prime Minister’s Questions. Thriving high streets are at the heart of our local communities here in Cannock Chase and I was delighted that the First Secretary of State joined me in recognising the contribution they make.”
Voting in the competition closes at 5pm on 30 November, with categories for best independent shops, market stalls and café/restaurants in each of Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley.
The Cannock Chase MP added: “There’s not long to go before voting closes so I would urge anyone who hasn’t done so already to go online and register their support for their favourite shops, market stalls and café/restaurants. I would also like to encourage people to go out and support our local high streets this weekend as part of Small Business Saturday.”
