Speaking in Parliament ahead of a visit to Brereton's Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School, Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, praised the school's improvement in standards, following a recent Ofsted inspection which saw the school rated as 'Good'.
The Cannock Chase MP was joined by Leader of the House, Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP in congratulating the Headteacher, Chris Gaffiney and all of his team for their hard work and commitment over the last couple of years to turnaround the fortunes of the school, which had previously been rated as 'requires improvement'.
The new Ofsted report cited numerous initiatives that have been implemented at the Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School which have seen an improvement in the quality of teaching and learning.
The Cannock Chase MP, who is a Brereton resident herself, commented: "When I first visited Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School, I was incredibly impressed by the passion and enthusiasm of Chris Gaffiney and all of his team, and it was clear that the school's fortunes were already changing. I was delighted to hear that their hard work and commitment has paid off with the recent improved Ofsted rating, and I was keen that this be recognised on the floor of the House of Commons."
Amanda Milling MP added: "It was a pleasure to go back to the school to meet Chris Gaffiney, the Headteacher, to discuss the school's progress and plans for the future and also see for myself some of the really positive initiatives that have been implemented. I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the school achieving these improvements."
Headteacher of Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School, Chris Gaffiney, said: “I would like to thank everyone who has worked together to improve the school’s rating. This has been a great team effort and the whole team can feel proud of their efforts.”
Responding to Amanda Milling MP, the Leader of the House, the Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, said: “I pay tribute not only to the headteacher she mentions, but to all those in her constituency who are helping to make a difference for the young people of Cannock Chase.”
The Leader of the House is no stranger to Cannock Chase schools, having led a Question & Answer session with students at Cannock Chase High School last year.
The Cannock Chase MP used the visit to Redbrook Hayes Primary School to present the Headteacher with a copy of Hansard, the formal transcript of Parliamentary debates, which includes the reference to the school.
