Amanda Milling MP to join thousands of other #LitterHeroes.
Environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy, are once again about to undertake their annual national clean up event, the Great British Spring Clean, which takes place between the 2nd and 4th March 2018. The annual event is a great opportunity to do your bit in the fight to reduce litter.
Last year, the campaign saw more #LitterHeroes engage than ever before and together collected a staggering 70,000 wheelie bins of rubbish in the space of one weekend. More than 300,000 people got involved to clean up their local streets, parks and beaches – and everybody had fun whilst doing it. This year even more people are being encouraged to participate and Cannock Chase’s local MP, Amanda Milling, is also encouraging her constituents to get involved.
Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton, said: “Littering is a serious issue that blights the beautiful beaches, countryside and cities of the UK. It also has a devastating effect on our wildlife. The Great British Spring Clean is an opportunity for everyone who cares about the rubbish scarring our country and threatening our seas to take a stand.”
On Friday 2 March 2018, Amanda Milling MP will be joining local school children in Hednesford Park to learn how to improve the environment through composting, recycling and litter picking.
Amanda Milling said: “It’s really important to educate our younger generations about the importance of keeping our environment free from litter, and there is no better way of doing this than through a community litter pick. By coming together and venturing out into our local parks and open spaces for a litter pick, we are all able to do our bit to keep Cannock Chase clean and tidy”.
Individuals, groups, families, schools, businesses and clubs can all sign up and make a difference by registering for a litter pick at www.keepbritaintidy.org/gbspringclean.
