The Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase is supporting a campaign to hold the UKs’ biggest clean-up. Amanda Milling MP has called on schools, businesses and community groups to help tidy up their local area ahead of HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday.
The “Clean for The Queen” project brings together all the anti-litter organisations from the UK and aims to get people involved in Britain’s largest litter pick. Community groups including parish councils, residents’ associations, Girl Guides, Brownies, Scouts and Cub troops are encouraged to organise their own litter pick or clean up in the coming weeks or over the “Clean for The Queen” weekend (4 - 6 March).
Amanda helped launch the campaign in Parliament with other MPs, including Boris Johnson and Victoria Prentis.
Amanda Milling said:
“This is a great opportunity to make sure we get the Cannock Chase area that extra bit neater and tidier in time for Her Majesty The Queen’s official 90th birthday on 21 April. Although the big litter pick will take place over 4, 5 and 6 March, people can get involved whenever they like. It is the support and action people are taking, and not the dates, which are important. I really hope people across Cannock Chase will consider getting involved so together we can help mark this momentous occasion.”
Amanda Milling will be supporting the "Clean for the Queen" event organised by the Friends of Etchinghill and is calling on other local residents to get involved. Anyone who wants to take part can do so by meeting at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Mount Road, Etchinghill at 3pm on Saturday 5th March. All equipment is provided and refreshments will be available after the litter pick.
