Following a public vote, Cannock Chase MP nominated Jordan Dewhurst, at the Trafalgar pub in Hednesford, as Cannock Chase’s entry into the national Pub Chef of the Year competition. The competition saw chefs from across the country battle it out to be crowned national "Pub Chef of the Year".
The competition was run by the British Beer & Pub Association and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, in partnership with Nestlé Professional. The prestigious competition took nominations from Members of Parliament to recognise a pub chef in their constituency who is renowned for their great food. Amanda turned to the public to get the name of the local pub chef who should represent Cannock Chase, calling on them to vote for their nomination.
Amanda Milling said: "Whilst it is disappointing that Jordan didn't make the final, I was delighted to present him with his certificate to recognise his great pub food. The Trafalgar pub has recently undergone a huge renovation, which includes a new menu with great pub food. Jordan was a very worthy entry to fly the flag for Cannock Chase, having been chosen by the public."
With a national shortage of pub chefs this competition was also designed to raise awareness of the opportunities catering offers as a career choice.
