The Cannock Chase MP, Amanda Milling, is calling on local residents to get in touch and report nuisance potholes in Cannock Chase, following an award to Staffordshire County Council of £1 million from the Government’s Pothole Action Fund.
Local roads have been criticised for the number of potholes on them and The Cannock Chase MP is encouraging local residents to report them quickly so they can be repaired using this grant.
Amanda Milling said: “Many constituents contact me about potholes and it is a big issue across Cannock Chase. Staffordshire County Council repair about 350 potholes in Staffordshire every week and they maintain 6,400km of roads in the county. If you know of any potholes please get in touch, including their precise location and as many details as possible about them. I will then report them to Staffordshire County Council and ask them to repair them.”
You can contact Amanda by calling 01534 877142 or emailing [email protected]. Local residents can also report potholes directly to Staffordshire County Council by visiting https://apps2.staffordshire.gov.uk/web/reportfault.
Amanda added: “Many local residents are part of my local “Pothole Patrol” team and help me report potholes. If you want to get involved let me know. This grant could see as many as 18900 potholes repaired across Staffordshire.”
As part of the pothole fund, local authorities in England will receive £50 million a year over the next five years, with allocations based on the size of the network. Nearly one million potholes will be repaired in England over the next 12 months through the Pothole Action Fund, according to the Department for Transport. The West Midlands has received a total allocation of £5.7m which will fix an estimated 108,000 potholes.
